the real me

the real me would want to steal instead of give
the real me would want to tear down instead of build up
wheres the real me?
the real me hates and doesnt love
the real me cries and doesnt rejoice
wheres the real me?
the real me is angry and not at peace
the real me has no direction
wheres the real me?
the real me has no purpose
the real me cannot be found......

"For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
- Galatians 2:19-20

top 15 Southern Baptist Sins

An acquaintance of mine (Joe Perdue) posted this in his facebook notes and I thought twas nifty. Enjoy.

As we all know part of being a Southern Baptist means living a holy life. The way to living a holy life is to adopt as many rules as possible and live your life according to them, like a daily checklist. At the end of the day, if a Southern Baptist can check off more “good” things from the list than “bad” things, then he or she can take comfort in the fact that Jesus is happy…for now. We all know the Bible has some good rules in it, but it doesn’t go far enough. In order to live a truly Christ-pleasing life Southern Baptists must follow extra-Biblical rules that we all know are right. I am taking the time to write this in order to countdown the top extra-Biblical Southern Baptist Sins. While no one really knows what the unpardonable sin is, the top five are good candidates.

15. Smoking
14. Listening to secular music.
13. Being a Calvinist
12. Not being a Calvinist
11. Having a piercing (men) or a tattoo (both genders)
10. Having sex for reasons other than procreation
9. Watching movies that are rated “R”
8. Making fun of godly leaders such as James Dobson and Page Patterson (aka Jesus Jr.)
7. Becoming too friendly with a “lost” person.
6. Being nice to a homosexual
5. Not voting for the Republican Canidate in the last election (Southern Baptists may be excused if they wrote in James Dobson or Jesus)
4. Allowing a woman to study/teach the Bible (in 2000 the SBC voted to use this to replace the old sin “teaching women to read”)
3. Attending a church where someone plays a guitar or where the church makes use of technology.
2. Being divorced, being related to a divorced person, or knowing a divorced person.
1. Drinking

Porqué and Porque

Why do we pray?
Out loud?
Why do we go to church or not?
Why don't we kill people?
Why are we alive?
Why worry about God, morals, values, our country, life?
Why do we do what we do from day to day?
Why do we read the Bible or not?
Why?
A great theologian once said "it's not the things we do that define who we are but why we do them"

Because.... He is good and true and right and just and holy and perfect and incredible and God.

If we don't know why then we don't know how.

Update

man, grown up life sucks, this 8-5 job is pretty tough but I do like it. I am learning all sorts of banking jargon and policies. It's pretty interesting. I got to act like a kid again today though, that was a relief to not have to worry about anything and just have fun, seems like that happens less and less now-a-days. This has been a good weekend. Thank You.

My friends call me Murphy, you can call me, Robocop...

Ahh, Robocop, one of my favorite movies growing up.(which I am not sure it is a good thing that my parents let me watch it at such a young age) We all know the story, Alex Murphy was horrifically murdered by thugs while on a drug bust. They doctors volunteered him for a cyborg project and out pops Robocop, an everlasting crime fighting machine. The world that this story takes place in is crime ridden and in need of something drastic to happen, Robocop is that drastic solution. The world we live in is also ridden wih wrongdoing and hurt and hopelessness. God has made us into Robosaints if you will(holy crap, that is THE cheesey word ever!) We were living our lives just like everyone else, then we have something happen that rocks our world, we meet Jesus. He takes the bad that was done to us in the past, all the hurt, and uses it to form who we are in Him. Murphy's past experiences help him to survive as Robocop, they mold his judgement just as out past guides our judgement in the future. The series ends with Robocop helping to end the crime in detroit, not without loss, but with hope for the future. Our story doesn't end with hopelessness either, we have hope that if we trust in God and do what is right and true to Him then we can change the world, we can offer hope to the hopeless and be part of something bigger than ourselves. We can change the world with His help. The question isn't will you help, it is what side are helping, you are already making a difference now, but for which side, Hope or hopeless? We have to look at our lives, that is the evidence, talk is cheap, action shows the truth. Also, for the record, this is just robocop quickie, sorry to the avid fans that I did cut it down to a very short synopsis. K Bye

"Do or do not...

there is no try" One of my favorite quotes from you guessed it, the Jedi master himself, Yoda. This is just one of the many nuggets that has great practical value for life. Either you apply and give all you are to what you are doing or you don't do it at all, why halfway do something? I have recently came to understand that we should present excellence in everything we do, why? Because why give God and other people something that was half way done or something that could have been better. When a Jedi has a task, he devotes himself fully to that task until it is completed, there is no sitting on the fence for a Jedi, as Christians, we should be even more devoted to working to glorify Him. What I want you to catch here is that this should be the norm, "do or do not, THERE IS NO TRY" there is not an option to halfway do something, EVERYTIME we do something it should be done with a mindset of excellence. He has given us so much, why can't we give our very best back to Him in all we do? It won't be easy, it won't always be fun, but I can promise it will play a big part in changing the world, it will make others see a difference in us, it will let others see Christ through us. Try it.

Star Wars Theology

Not just Star Wars, but all Sci-fi in general, I think I am going to start a series of blogs that give good biblical principles using examples from various movies (mostly Star Wars). If you have any suggestions or questions you might liked answered with an example from a movie let me know. Stay Tuned. K Bye

I can't believe its not Christianity!

I understand the need to reach out to the lost, you have to show them their need for a savior, I understand that you introduce them to Christ whom they have never met, that you should try to inspire them by the way you live BUT how do you inspire those who think they are inspired, how do you convince the people who think they have it all figured out? I am not talking about your average non-Christian, I mean the people that fill our churches thinking that they have it together and who during the invitation even "pray" for people to respond but you look at their life, you look at who they are, and you don't see Jesus, I mean you see good things like going to church or giving money or even talking about Jesus, but you don't SEE Him and how He lived. I believe that some of us have chosen this imitation Christianity, this seemingly good lifestyle that makes us feel great and look great but has no kingdom value. I honestly don't know how to inspire this people group to change. I pray you examine yourself as I have and make sure you haven't sold your self out to this cheap imitation. I pray that you are truly inspired by Christ, not the idea of Christ but by Him and how incredible He is and I pray you are changed because of Him.

turn to ya left and tell somebody

I really just want to preach, I want other people to know Him and how incredible He is. I see it in life everyday, people that He has impacted and radically changed. I just wish that everyone around me could get that, that they could see what I see and experience what I experience. Not that I am super-spiritual or w/e but just knowing what it is to abide in Christ and actually see and feel His work. I really believe that if people really let Christ rock their world then we wouldn't have to vote on every little thing and have to fight and argue over stupid stuff. I also don't want to give you the impression that I think I am all holy and stuff... I am nothing without Him who makes me complete, I am just some kid. He is everything.

We're not in Kansas anymore

I am not in Florida. I have to get that in my head, things don't work the same here as they do there. People don't treat me the same as they do there. I am still working on getting adjusted to living in the ham, it is definitely a struggle as stuff the last few days has been extremely stressful, but as a few people have reminded me, it will all get better, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I just wanna continue to grow as I did in Florida, I know it won't be the same practically, but can't it be the same spiritually and mentally? Perhaps. By the way, thanks to Lauren Wegmann, I am finding your myspace profile playlist to be quite good.
